Your exchange account can change.
Your private keys shouldn't.
When an exchange loses its regulatory status, users face uncertainty — restricted access, withdrawal limits, forced migrations. This isn't unique to Binance. It's the fundamental risk of leaving your assets in someone else's custody.
MiCA has made this visible. But the underlying principle is as old as crypto itself: not your keys, not your coins. When you hold the private keys to your wallet, no regulator, no license decision, and no exchange policy can prevent you from accessing your assets.
This is what self-custody means. And this is why NGRAVE exists.
5 steps to move your crypto
off an exchange safely
- 01
Get a hardware wallet first
Before you withdraw anything, set up your hardware wallet and generate your wallet address. Never withdraw to an address you haven't verified on the device itself.
- 02
Start with a test transaction
Send a small amount first — €10–20 worth. Confirm it arrives in your wallet before moving the rest. This step catches any mistakes before they're costly.
- 03
Withdraw by asset, not all at once
Move one cryptocurrency at a time. Rushing bulk withdrawals during high-traffic periods increases the chance of errors. Gas fees are also easier to manage asset by asset.
- 04
Secure your recovery phrase offline
Your hardware wallet will generate a recovery phrase (seed phrase). Write it down on paper or — better — engrave it on a steel backup. Never photograph it. Never store it digitally.
- 05
Verify, then remove the exchange app
Once all assets are confirmed in your hardware wallet, you're done. Keep your exchange account open (don't delete it) in case you need it for future trading — but your assets now belong to you.
⚠️ Common mistake: moving from Binance to another exchange. That replaces one regulatory risk with another. True ownership means moving to self-custody — where no one but you controls access to your assets.
If you're moving significant assets,
choose the highest level of protection.

Common questions
- Is it safe to withdraw from Binance right now?
Yes. Binance is legally required to maintain orderly access to user funds. You can withdraw your assets normally. The July 1 deadline means Binance stops offering trading services to EU users — it does not mean funds disappear.
- Do I need a hardware wallet, or will a software wallet do?
For small amounts, a software wallet is acceptable. For any significant holdings, a hardware wallet is strongly recommended. Software wallets store your private keys on an internet-connected device, which exposes them to malware and phishing attacks.
- What's the difference between NGRAVE ZERO and other hardware wallets?
NGRAVE ZERO is the only wallet with EAL7 certification — the highest security rating ever awarded to a financial product. It's also fully air-gapped, meaning it has no USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi connection. Competing wallets like Ledger Flex and Trezor Safe 5 are rated EAL6+ and require physical cable or wireless connections to sign transactions.
- What is NGRAVE GRAPHENE and do I need it?
GRAPHENE is a stainless steel backup for your private key. Unlike a paper seed phrase (which can burn, flood, or degrade), GRAPHENE is fireproof, waterproof, and cryptographically split so that neither half reveals your key alone. It's strongly recommended for anyone holding meaningful assets long-term.
- Can I still trade crypto if I use a hardware wallet?
Yes. Your hardware wallet stores your assets. You can still connect to exchanges for trading — the difference is that your assets sit in your own wallet between trades, not on the exchange. The NGRAVE LIQUID app also supports swapping directly.
